At Ponteland High School, our commitment to physical education is at the heart of our vibrant school community. Under the inspiring leadership of our Head of PE, Mr. Paul Dunn, and supported by the dedicated PE department, students are thriving through a wide array of sports and physical activities.
From early morning training sessions to after-school clubs, the enthusiasm of both staff and students is undeniable. The PE team works tirelessly to provide opportunities for every child to take part, regardless of ability or experience. Whether it’s football, netball, athletics, gymnastics, or emerging sports like ultimate frisbee and dodgeball, our pupils are always eager to get involved.
Mr. Dunn shared his passion, saying:
“Physical education isn’t just about fitness—it’s about teamwork, resilience, and having fun. It’s a privilege to see our students grow in confidence and skill, both on and off the field.”
The atmosphere around the PE department is electric, with children showing enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and a willingness to try new things. This term alone has seen record numbers participating in inter-school competitions, lunchtime leagues, and skill-building workshops.
Our PE staff work collaboratively to ensure lessons are engaging and inclusive, and it’s clear their energy and expertise inspire students every day. Their efforts are helping to instil healthy habits, a lifelong love for sport, and a strong sense of school spirit.
We’re proud of the achievements of our students and grateful to our PE department—led with passion and excellence by Mr. Dunn—for making physical education such a standout part of school life.
