A Week of Harmony: Ponteland High Celebrates Musical Talent

December 18th, 2025

This week has been a wonderful celebration of music at Ponteland High School, with two fantastic concerts showcasing the talent, dedication, and hard work of our students.

On Monday, we were delighted to host a mini piano concert featuring pupils taught by Lada Khazanovych. Students performed a wide and varied programme, with some even playing confidently from memory, to a warm and appreciative audience. The commitment shown in preparation and practice was evident throughout, and the performances truly highlighted the impressive musical abilities of our pianists.

On Tuesday evening, our annual Christmas Concert took place in the Assembly Hall to a capacity audience. The evening was a tremendous success, featuring an exciting and diverse programme of music that kept the audience captivated from start to finish. Performances from our Brass Band, Wind Band, String Group, Junior and Senior Choirs, and Jazz Band demonstrated the breadth and strength of music making across the school.

A particular highlight of the evening was the outstanding quality of the solo performances, with students rising to the challenge of demanding works by composers such as Chopin and Rimsky-Korsakov. The confidence, musicianship, and maturity displayed were a credit to the students.

We would like to congratulate all students involved for their enthusiasm and hard work, and to thank the families and friends who came along to support and help make these events so memorable.
