Following their success at the Northumberland Schools’ Singing Competition in December, the Ponteland School Choir were invited to perform at The Glasshouse as part of the North East Regional Choir Festival, a major celebration of choral singing in the region.
The choir performed a demanding and sophisticated choral arrangement of Fix You by Coldplay to a packed audience of well over 1,000 people. Although the performance was non-competitive, the choir received exceptionally positive feedback from the judges, who praised the ensemble’s musical sensitivity, vocal blend, and confident delivery. Since the event, we have also been inundated with messages from parents and organisers, highlighting the outstanding quality of the singing, particularly in such a challenging piece of music.
Alongside their performance, the day included a large scale massed singing session with ten other school choirs from across the region. This formed a key part of the North East Regional Choir Festival and provided an inspiring and uplifting experience, allowing students to sing alongside peers from other schools and be part of a truly memorable musical event.
We are extremely proud of the commitment, resilience, and teamwork shown by the choir in preparing for this performance. Their hard work was evident not only in the quality of the final performance, but also in the professionalism with which they represented the school throughout the day. We look forward to hearing the choir as they continue their musical journey and take on future performance opportunities.
