Recently, some Year 12 students took part in their practice expedition for their gold Duke of Edinburgh award. The trip saw two groups testing their navigation and teamwork skills against the backdrop of rolling hills, sheep and woodlands.
Over the three day expedition, both groups faced a variety of challenges from route planning to carrying heavy rucksacks and making meals. Despite this, all students remained positive and supported each other throughout. Unforgettable memories were made and all who took part cannot wait till next September for the second instalment.
Speaking with a few students who took part, they described the expedition as both fun and rewarding. One participant said “it was a really enjoyable experience and I’m glad that I took part, a great opportunity to be one Nature.” Another student also remarked how rewarding the showers were at the campsite especially after a full day of walking!
