Our students have officially made their voices heard on a national stage!
Following a creative workshop back in November, our Year 10 students wrote original spoken-word pieces and recorded their voices for a massive collaborative project. This week, we received some incredible news from the National Theatre: our school’s contribution has been featured in the final national edit.
Standing Out in a Crowd of Thousands
The project, titled The Next Morning, was run in partnership with the National Theatre’s Dear England tour. It was an enormous nationwide initiative, bringing together:
-
3,000 students
-
71 different schools
-
17 cities across the country
With so many voices in the mix, competition to make the final cut was incredibly tough. However, the National Theatre’s team was captivated by the talent and perspective of our students.
An Inspiring National Feature
The final audio time capsule was put together by award-winning composer and sound artist Benbrick. It blends the hopes, ambitions, and reflections of young people from all over England into one inspiring soundscape.
We are absolutely thrilled that a powerful line written and recorded by one of our Year 10 students was selected to represent our school community in the final piece.
Where to listen: You can hear our school’s feature at around the 2:56 mark, delivering the thought-provoking line: “We pride ourselves on community but I’ve not seen its face in a long while.”

A Huge Thank You
This amazing opportunity was made possible thanks to our local partners at the Newcastle Theatre Royal, who worked alongside the National Theatre to deliver the workshops to our students.
A massive congratulations to all the Year 10 students who took part in November. Your creativity and insight have left a lasting mark on a major national project!
