We are looking to appoint a Food Technician to support the Design & Technology department. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for food and organisation to play a key role in supporting practical food lessons. Opportunities may include short-term, long-term or ongoing placements depending on the needs of the school.
About the Role
As a Food Technician, you will support the delivery of Food Technology lessons by ensuring practical sessions run smoothly and safely. You will play an important role behind the scenes, preparing ingredients, organising equipment and helping maintain a safe learning environment for students.
Working closely with the class teacher, you will help students gain hands-on experience in cooking and food preparation while ensuring all practical activities are carried out safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities may include:
- Preparing ingredients, equipment and resources for practical food lessons
- Supporting teachers and students during practical cooking sessions
- Maintaining a safe and hygienic food preparation environment
- Monitoring stock levels and ordering ingredients and supplies when required
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and workspaces after lessons
- Ensuring health and safety procedures and food hygiene standards are followed at all times
Requirements, you should have:
- Experience working in a kitchen, catering, food preparation or school environment
- A good understanding of food hygiene and health & safety practices
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- A positive attitude and willingness to support both staff and students
- A passion for working in an educational environment
A Food Hygiene Certificate would be desirable but is not essential.
