PHS Students Raise Fantastic £627 for Maggie’s

November 7th, 2025

Ponteland High School (PHS) was absolutely delighted to present a cheque for a brilliant £627 to Maggie’s Cancer Centre, following our hugely successful ‘Try Something New Day’!

The school’s spirit and generosity shone brightly during the dedicated day, where students and pupils were encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and participate in a range of new and exciting activities. From quirky workshops to engaging challenges, the day was not only about having fun but also about raising vital funds for a fantastic cause.

A representative from Maggie’s Cancer Centre visited the school recently to gratefully receive the donation. Maggie’s Centre provide free practical, emotional, and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. The money raised by PHS will go directly towards helping the charity continue its incredible work.

“We are incredibly proud of our students’ efforts and enthusiasm,” said Mr Grier. “The ‘Try Something New Day’ is always a highlight of the school calendar, and to be able to use it to support such a worthwhile charity as Maggie’s makes the achievement even more meaningful. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and donated.”

This fantastic total demonstrates the commitment of the PHS community to supporting those in need and highlights the positive impact that trying something new can have!
