Ponteland High Students Explore the Sights and Stories of Edinburgh

June 27th, 2025

This week, a group of excited students from Ponteland High School set off on an unforgettable three-day adventure to the historic city of Edinburgh. Packed with history, excitement, and sweet surprises, the trip offered a brilliant mix of education and entertainment.

The trip began with a spine-tingling ghost tour through Edinburgh’s old town. With cobbled streets, hidden alleyways, and stories of the city’s eerie past, students were both thrilled and chilled as they learned about Edinburgh’s spookiest legends.

Next up was a visit to the famous Edinburgh Dungeons. Through live performances and interactive exhibits, students got a dramatic insight into the darker side of Scottish history — complete with sudden screams, dungeon doors, and plenty of laughter.

No visit to Edinburgh would be complete without seeing the magnificent Edinburgh Castle. For a change of pace (and taste!), the group also visited a local chocolate factory. Here, students had the chance to learn how chocolate is made — and even create their very own personalised chocolate bar to take home. It was a delicious highlight of the trip!

To round off the adventure, the group set out on a boat trip across the Firth of Forth to Inchcolm Island. With beautiful coastal views and the chance to explore the island’s medieval abbey and wildlife, it was a relaxing and memorable end to the journey.

Students returned home tired but full of stories, photos, and fantastic memories. The Edinburgh trip not only brought learning to life but also helped classmates bond through shared experiences and fun.
