Ponteland High Students Unite for World Environment Day with Community Litter Pick

June 11th, 2025

To celebrate World Environment Day, students from Ponteland High School took part in a community litter pick, helping to improve their local area while raising awareness about environmental responsibility.

The event brought together Sixth Form students and Year 7s, giving them a chance to work side by side for a shared cause. Equipped with litter pickers and gloves, the volunteers collected rubbish from parks, paths, and green spaces around Ponteland, leaving a visible impact on the local environment.

“It was a great opportunity for our Sixth Formers to work with our Year 7 students,” said Mrs Hall, Head of Sixth Form. “It was lovely to see the pupils working together to have a positive impact in the local community.”

The event not only supported the global message of World Environment Day but also fostered teamwork, leadership, and environmental awareness across different year groups.

A big well done to all involved—your efforts have made a real difference and set a great example for our school and wider community!
