Last Thursday the sixth form team all came together to curate an open evening sharing information and opinions regarding the many subjects Ponteland sixth form have to offer. Guests were greeted at the door by the very polite prefects who offered maps and any directional help as well as answering any questions about sixth form life, uniform and subjects.
In Philosophy, Ethics students explained the overview of the course, what it entailed and how they felt about it such as explaining the individual subjects of DT, Philosophy and Ethics. They answered any questions in regards to the final examinations and showed the trees of information posters that students have put hours of effort into and helped young students and parents understand the text book.
Business helpers explained the difference between C-Tech and A-Level business whilst answering questions about coursework, difficulty and examination environments. Business was a particularly popular subject likely due to its popular GCSE course achieving high grades and on the contrary philosophy and ethics was popular despite it not having a GCSE course but being well recommended and advertised by teachers and 6th formers.
Other popular courses included Biology, English Language and Psychology all portrayed excellently by teachers and students. Less popular subjects like medical science B-Tech were also shown to possible future sixth formers making the more unique subject stand out positively whilst maintaining realistic and honest opinions especially about heavy coursework requiring strict dedication and general interest in order to achieve success.
