Students Raise Over £600 for Maggie’s Cancer Support at Annual ‘Try Something New’ Day

September 16th, 2025

We are delighted to share that this year’s Annual ‘Try Something New’ Day in July raised over £600 for Maggie’s Cancer Support.

Taking place during the final week of the academic year, the event gives students the opportunity to sign up for a wide variety of exciting activities led by teachers and professional support staff. Each year, the range of activities grows, offering something for everyone to enjoy.

This year’s programme included driftwood craft, wildlife walks, Warhammer, juggling lessons, CPR training, graffiti art, and an array of new sports such as Kinball, Kubb and football rounders.

Students make a small charitable contribution to take part, while enjoying a break from their usual lessons and experiencing a creative and alternative curriculum for the day.

One of the key Character strengths promoted in our school is involvement, and this event is a fantastic example of students embracing that value. Their enthusiasm and commitment helped make the day a huge success — and supported a wonderful cause in the process.

Well done to everyone who took part!
