Year 10 Impress at Mock Interview Day

July 7th, 2025

On Thursday 3rd July, over 200 Year 10 students at Ponteland High School took part in a Mock Interview Day – a key part of the school’s careers education programme. Each student had a one-to-one interview with a professional from the world of work, designed to build confidence and communication skills.

Volunteers from a wide range of industries gave up their time to support the event, offering students valuable insight into the world of work. Interviews lasted around 10–12 minutes and
were followed by personalised written feedback.

The response from volunteers was incredibly positive, with students described as confident, engaging, and thoughtful in how they reflected on their strengths and experiences. Several interviewers said they would have happily offered some students a job based on their performance.

Mr Jonny Greenshields, Deputy Headteacher, said:

“I’m really proud of how our students rose to the challenge. They spoke with confidence, presented themselves professionally, and took on board the feedback they received. It was great to hear such positive comments from our visitors.

I’m very grateful to all the volunteers who gave up their time to support the day, and to the staff who helped make it happen. It was a fantastic example of partnership working to support our students”
