In July, myself and 11 other students took part in a World Challenge expedition to Borneo. Over the 17 days that we spent on the trip we were privileged enough to experience some life changing experiences and opportunities such as living and working among a community and seeing native species such as orangutans and pangolins.
The journey was incredibly varied as we were both staying in built up cities such as Kota Kinabalu and in hammocks whilst jungle trekking which provided us a much wider insight into the lives of others as well as our own. Although challenging, this experience gave us the opportunity to create memories that will last a lifetime. The skills that I’ve learnt from the trip will be those that I carry with me for the rest of my life not to mention the confidence I now have in my own independence.
It was such an incredible experience and I would encourage anyone that has the opportunity to, to partake in a World Challenge trip.
