Friday 13 May was a lucky day for Y12 student, Cameron, who won the prestigious North of England Schools Golf Championships; actually, not lucky - he’s just a brilliant golfer! Cameron will now go on to compete at the English Schools’ National Championships at Gog Magog Golf Club, Cambridge in June.
Four Ponteland High students competed at the tournament hosted by Longhirst Hall Golf Club on Friday. In addition to Cameron’s win in the boy’s competition, Lewis in Y11 finished in 30th place whilst on the girls’ side, Zara (Y11) and Louisa (Y9) finished 7th and 11th, respectively.
PE teacher and golfer, Mr Doig said “This is a fantastic achievement given the high level of competition in the North of England. I am extremely proud of all of the pupils who represented Northumberland County from our school. They continue to impress in terms of attitude, etiquette and determination. Well done!”
