It has been difficult to ignore the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.
Since mid-August this year, we have seen so many images of frightened and vulnerable people risking their lives in order to flee the Taliban. Many of these people will arrive in the UK hoping to build a new future for themselves and their families. Sadly, this is often with very few of their possessions.
Here at Ponteland High, we supported the refugee crisis charity Care4Calais by organising a whole school collection. Our students kindly donated a huge variety of essential items; from clothes for adults and children to old mobile phones, which will allow refugees to keep in touch with their loved ones back home. All of these items will go a long way in helping the new families to settle here in the North East.
We are extremely proud and delighted with the contributions from our school community and this highlights the care and compassion we have for those who find themselves in much more challenging circumstances.
