Eve competed at the North East Regional short course championships down in Sheffield at the start of November and won 3 golds (50/100/200 Backstroke) and 2 bronzes (400/1500 Freestyle).
This was her first big competition of the new season coming off the back of becoming National Champion in the 400m Freestyle at the English National Championships in August, where she was also silver medallist in the 400m Individual Medley. She swam a 6 second personal best in the 400m freestyle heats and then took another 3 seconds off her new PB in the final to win.
She’s off to the Scottish Winter short course Nationals in Edinburgh in early December where she’ll compete in the open category. This is her target meet for the short course season so it’s all about times.
After Christmas, she moves into long course season with the Northumberland and Durham County Championships in February. Her hope is to qualify to race at the Senior British Champs which doubles up as the Olympic trials in London in April but the qualifying times are incredibly difficult so we’ll have to see! Keep your fingers crossed for her. The window to qualify for the British and English summer championships opens in March so lots of swimming coming up!
She’s been reselected onto the Swim England national age group talent programme and has already been down to Huddersfield for a face to face camp, with more coming up with online workshops and face to face camps next year.
Proud mum Liz said "It’s really busy for her but she loves it more than ever. I don’t know how she manages 9 training sessions a week whilst starting her GCSEs. We’re really proud of her!"
