The Northumberland and Durham County Swimming Championships 2022 were held over two weekends; 11-13 Feb and 26-27 Feb at the Sunderland Aquatic Centre.
Y8 student, Eve won 8 medals in total:
- Gold in the 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke;
- Silver in the 200m Freestyle, 800m Freestyle and 400m Individual Medley, and
- Bronze in the 100m Butterfly and 100m Breaststroke
She also achieved 10 new Long Course personal bests (PB’s) and her club, Newcastle Swim Team, topped the medal table and won Eve’s Age Group trophy.
This month sees the opening of the qualifying window for both the English and British Championships being held this summer in Sheffield. The window runs from 11 March to 8 May. During this period of time, Eve will compete in Stockport, Sunderland and at the Regional Championships in Leeds.
Proud mum, Liz said, “Eve is hoping to achieve the fast times needed to qualify her for the National competitions in the summer, fingers crossed!”
