On Friday 27th January we took a group of Year 10 students to the NHS Manufacturing and Innovation Hub for a Find Your Future Event. Students had the opportunity to meet representatives of 350 different career pathways the NHS offers. Students enjoyed finding out about career routes into a variety of roles eg. Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Operating Department Practitioner, Counselling services, to name a few. Meeting professionals who talked passionately about their work and how they progressed in their careers, really inspired our students to see what opportunities are out there for them.
Students feedback included 'I found the visit to be very insightful in a variety of careers options', ' I learned that there are loads of different parts of the NHS with career opportunities not just nurses and doctors', 'I was introduced to a career in biochemistry which I have not heard about before', 'I learned a lot about biomedical science and that university is not the only way to get a job in the NHS', 'I met many people who loved their job and role in the NHS'.
Mrs Bowring who co-ordinated the trip said "visiting the Innovations Hub for the NHS was very inspiring and informative. Our students met professionals who shared passionately about the line of work they are in. I was impressed by the variety of roles within the NHS and the range of career routes into these areas. Individuals shared how they had progressed within the NHS and explained how there are a wide range of opportunities available"
