On Saturday 4th February, the Northern Schools' Inter-County Cross Country Championship took place at Farringdon in Sunderland. Teams of all ages from Northumberland, Durham, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Cleveland raced the hilly course (including the famous water jump!) for a place in the National Championship next month. Frances E, year 9, competed in the Junior Girls 3500m race, finishing 20th out of 75, and crossing the line in a time of 14:45.
Each county team had up to 16 entrants per race, with the first 8 home securing a place at Nationals: Frances finished 4th for Northumberland and will travel with the rest of the qualifying team to Woolaton Park in Nottingham in March.
