Ponteland High School once again played host to Pele Trust Primary schools on Thursday 16 June. Year 6 students from Darras Hall Primary, Ponteland Primary and Richard Coates Primary School were welcomed for an afternoon of cricket, tag rugby and tennis!
Transition events like these are a key benefit of the Pele Trust partnership. They provide our primary-age pupils opportunities to meet staff, mix with students from the other partnership schools and familiarise themselves with the school site. These events are not just aimed at year 6, with year 4 students visiting before half term and year 5 are due to visit for a similar event next week.
Year 12 sport students and 40 of our Year 9 young sport leaders were an integral part of the afternoon, leading groups of students through the different activities.
Rachel Main, KS2 Leader at Ponteland Primary said, ‘Our year 6 pupils were really excited about mixing with students from the other primary schools and making new friends ahead of September. They all had a wonderful afternoon.’
