On the weekend of the 8 January we travelled the 6 hour journey to Crawley for the National Championships. My race was on Sunday morning and after a days racing before and torrential rain overnight the course was extremely muddy meaning there were a lot of running sections. My individual result wasn’t what I had hoped for, 15th, however, our team won the overall standings, taking away 1st place in the country.
The following weekend was the final round of the national series where I placed 8th in the country out of another very strong field. Headteacher, Mr McGrane, said, “Phoebe is a fantastic student who is achieving very well in school. To be able to combine excellence in her studies along with the commitment and effort it takes to achieve excellence in sport is something to be admired. She deserves all of the success she has experienced.”
