On Sunday 3rd March our school jazz band competed in the Great North Jazz festival at Park View school in Chester Le Street. This is a national music competition featuring the very best school jazz bands from across the whole country. Our students performed a challenging programme which included pieces such as: Human Nature, Time after time, Chameleon and The Jazz Police.
Head of Music, Mr Rosier said "The students gave an excellent account of these works and received rapturous applause from the audience and very high praise from the judges. One amazing highlight however was the award given to our rhythm section which earned the 'best section' of the whole competition award. This was a huge accolade considering the excellent standard shown from all the competing ensembles. We are very proud of them and the whole band for giving such a good account of themselves but also representing Ponteland high school in such a positive way".
