Ponteland High’s Eve Hallissey (Year 8) wins prize at National Arena Junior swimming League Final in Coventry

07 October 2021

The Northumberland and Durham Performance Programme involves a weekly 2-hour training session in the 50m pool at the Sunderland Aquatic Centre under the instruction of a county coaching team. Eve’s selection was based on the fact that she is one of the top 6 swimmers within Northumberland and Durham ranked top 20 in the 12,13 and 14 year age group (age as of December 2021) based on the British Long Course rankings in the past 12 months. Saturday was Eve’s only day off … but not anymore!

Eve also received her Level X gold medal this week for winning the 50m backstroke in the second round of the national competition.

Above is a photo of Eve with her prize awarded for being the top 12 year old female swimmer at the National Arena Junior Swimming League final in Coventry on the 19th Sept. Newcastle Swim Team came 3rd!

Eve’s busy schedule is going to get busier as she is about to head into a run of galas mid and late October with the Regional Short Course Champs in Sheffield 6/7 Nov.

Head of Girls’ PE, Jolene Byers, commented, “ We are really proud of Eve and her success, she puts an exceptional amount of training into her swimming and still commits to other sporting activities in school!”
