Ponteland High’s Harry Armstrong (Y9) is making a difference through his Duke of Edinburgh volunteering
Harry struggled at first to find something for the volunteering section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award with all the restrictions in place. So he sat down and looked through the revamped list, thinking of the present times we are in with Covid and people losing jobs, and decided it would be good if he could help local people.
Harry made a poster asking his local community and family for help and support to donate any food items they could.
Over the next three months he collected food and dropped it off at the food bank at the end of each month. He was a little taken aback yesterday to see the amount of people waiting on their weekly food parcels at the Newcastle West End Foodbank and fully appreciated how lucky he is.
