Earlier this month, Y7 students Mollie, Imogen, Sam, Amelia and Katie had the opportunity to get involved in a fantastic project in their local community. Anna Makepeace, Careers Coordinator, who organised the event said: “As part of Bellway Homes' sustainability strategy, they're working with Earthwatch UK to build a Tiny Forest on Eland Lane (behind The Diamond Inn).
Earthwatch and Bellway are planting over 18 different species of trees on the tennis court sized plot, The Year 7 Gardening Club students were invited to help with the planting and hear more about the project. The students met with project managers and research leads from Earthwatch to learn about their roles and the unique planting methods used by the charity to promote forest development. The students were praised for their fantastic 'can - do' attitude and evident passion for wildlife and the great outdoors!”
