Food Technology teacher, Mrs Gray, and a group of students from across all year groups are working closely with our new Pele Trust Catering Manager, Richard Bell, and Ponteland High Catering Manager, Carol George, to support the improvement of our school food provision.
The steering group met in the dining street on Wednesday, to discuss the initial plans for a new menu, gathering opinions from the students of what they would like to see on offer in and around school.
It was a very successful first meeting with some exciting new ideas and plans to look forward to. Some immediate actions have included:
- A week of new main meals, e.g. mince and dumplings (Mon) and roast pork dinner with Yorkshire pudding and veg (Wednesday) that students and staff have been very positive about the new meals
- We have also made a move away from our use of plastic to wood cutlery and recyclable plates
