Year 8 student Ruby, 12, has been selected for the Northumberland County Under 14 girls team. This is the highest level of football for her age group - a fantastic achievement!
Ruby has trained really hard for this. She plays football six times a week for a number of teams, including Ponteland United and Newcastle United Academy, with both girls and boys.
Ruby and the rest of the county team will travel to Sweden next July to play in the Gothia Cup. This is a fantastic opportunity for Ruby to showcase her talent and hopefully impress a few scouts with her skills!
Ruby says: “This opportunity is once in a lifetime and I’m incredibly grateful I was chosen. Going to Sweden with the team to Gothenburg will be great fun and an experience I never thought I’d be able to have”
