The Northumberland FA U12 Trophy Final between Ponteland Jaguars and Newcastle Westgate Wildcats was held at Whitley on the 14 May.
The Jaguars, as with other teams, had to contend with the disruptive session due to Covid-19 restrictions; this meant less training and match time. However, throughout the rounds, the Jaguars rose to the challenge beating several teams, some two leagues above them to reach their first final.
Ryan T has been playing for the Jaguars since its inauguration when he was 6yrs old and remains one of a few original members. The final, which was held on the hottest day of the year at the time, was very much one way traffic and they won by a wide margin 11-0.
The boys were the trophy winners so picked up the Cup and individual medals, which was a testament to their hard work, team play and more importantly enjoyment of the game. Ryan plays right back for the Jaguars and controls the offside line very well. He has captained the team on several occasions this season.
Ryan’s dad said, “This team is more like a family and the bonding they have is great to see with everyone taking responsibility should they win or lose”.
