A huge congratulations to our very own Abbie Stokes who competed in the Scottish National Artistic Swimming Championships. This prestigious event took place in East Kilbride on 24-25 October. And that was at the end of a very long and busy first half term! These championships involve the most competitive clubs in Scotland and England and this year was the biggest ever
with over 150 swimmers from 16 different clubs.
The Gateshead 15–18-year-old team were represented by eight swimmers, including Abbie. They took home a silver medal in the tech event, just pipped to the post by Leeds, their biggest rivals. But, in the free event, they totally smashed it, beating Leeds and taking home the gold – their first in that event. This means they are Scottish National Champions for 2026. A huge achievement for a small club.
We are delighted to share Abbie’s success with you as she is a wonderful role model and asset to our school. Well done!
