On Friday 3 June 2024 we arranged a visit to Forum Books in Corbridge to select some new reading for pleasure book stock for the school Library with our Student Library Assistants.
The library trip to Corbridge was very good and enjoyable. As well as getting experiences and seeing what the other book shops look like and are laid out like, The Forum Bookshop staff were very kind and welcoming. We picked 2 books each for the library. The Watling coffee shop had a wide selection of foods snacks as well as hot and cold beverages. The food and drinks were delicious and the waiting time was very short with an added bonus of even more very friendly staff. By Matthew D (Year 7)
I too found the Corbridge visit extremely enjoyable with a wonderful bookshop starting the visit with extremely organised age category sections within. The staff were out of this world friendly helping us find books, recommend them and ordering new ones fresh off the press! The Watling coffee house was amazing too. We were seated immediately into an upstairs area as our party was so large (8 librarians, Mrs Briggs and Miss Pounder). Almost immediately our orders were taken and delivered. I selected a chocolate flapjack which was delicious the wonderful staff were very patient and kind while serving food and I would definitely visit again. By Henry B (Year 7)
PHS Librarian Mrs Briggs said " It was a pleasurable trip and made even better by the following comments from the Coffee Shop:
"Can I just say how extremely impressed I am with your boys? They are so polite and it is anabsolute pleasure to see. We get a number of groups in here and believe me they are nothing like your group today. They are a credit to you and the school and you should be proud of them. You are welcome back any time with that sort of behaviour and manners. We are just so pleased to see proper, well mannered children"
