Year 7 Students Lead the Way with Litter Picking Initiative

June 17th, 2026

This week, we have been incredibly proud to see a wonderful group of Year 7 students stepping up and volunteering their time to help pick litter around the school site and the neighbouring leisure centre. These enthusiastic young people gave up their own free time to make a real, visible difference to the environment around them and the results have been outstanding.

The students were inspired to take action following a series of weekly assemblies, where they explored the importance of looking after their local environment and taking responsibility for the community in which they live, learn, and grow. It is always rewarding to see the values discussed in assembly translate into meaningful action, and these students have done exactly that.

Litter picking may seem like a small act, but its impact is significant. A cleaner school site and leisure centre creates a more pleasant space for everyone – students, staff, and members of the wider community alike. It also sends a powerful message that our students care about where they live and are willing to do something about it.

We are truly grateful to have such motivated, helpful, and socially conscious students at our school. Their commitment to making a positive difference is an inspiration to us all, and we hope their enthusiasm encourages others to get involved in future volunteer opportunities.

Well done to all of the Year 7 students who took part – you should be very proud of yourselves!
